The Winship Family trilogy is the product of extensive research into Anglo-Irish life in nineteenth century Ireland, British Indian Army life in India, parliamentary history in late nineteenth and early twentieth century London, World War I from  British and American perspectives, the Dublin Easter Uprising, the Black and Tans in Ireland, the Anglo-Irish Treaty, and the ensuing Irish Civil War.

Mr. McCarthy intends to continue writing about another generation of the Winship family, taking the family members up and through World War II in America, Ireland, and England.

Mr. McCarthy resides in Haddonfield, New Jersey.
